The Full Story

I am a mother residing in Waco, Texas, and I have a strong connection to the realm of childbirth. I have had the privilege of giving birth twice, each experience being unique in its own way. The first time I gave birth at The Starting Place in Temple, Texas, it was an incredibly profound and transformative moment that left a lasting impact on my life. During my initial consultation with the midwives, they suggested that I consider having a doula. This led me to actively search for the perfect doula, unknowingly assembling a remarkable team that would ignite a passion within me to support families in Central Texas. Throughout my first pregnancy, I became increasingly concerned about the alarming rates of maternal deaths, c-sections, and inductions, which further fueled my dedication to educate and empower families to advocate for the birth experiences they desire. It was during my postpartum journey that I realized becoming a doula was my true calling.
Upon discovering my second pregnancy, I was already certified and assisting families. Unfortunately, we experienced a devastating second-trimester miscarriage. Surprisingly, this did not evoke envy or discomfort around expectant mothers, but rather, it fostered empathy within me.  The loss deepened my appreciation for successful pregnancies and underscored the significance of bereavement doula work. Experiencing the loss also provided me with a firsthand perspective from the hospital bed, akin to the laboring mothers I support. This dual experience has enhanced my ability to assist others, serving as a poignant reminder of the common losses families endure.

I have a strong conviction that every mother has the inner strength to bring their babies into the world, and I am committed to accompanying them on their journey through labor as they tap into that strength. As a doula, my goal is to become an essential member of my clients' support system, providing them with nurturing and compassionate care. I see childbirth as a deep trust in the natural abilities of mothers and their bodies to bring new life into existence. My unwavering faith in the power of mothers is truly motivating, and my dedication to transforming the perception of birth reflects my passion and dedication.
Beyond my work as a doula, I am fortunate to be able to care for my young child at home, as we intend to homeschool. Our family enjoys immersing ourselves in nature through hiking and backyard activities, as well as indulging in baking and painting in my free time.
